Community Notice: Shaughnessy Public School Yard Sale Fundraiser

After a smashing success last year,

we are going to repeat the fun times and great bargains to be had at the Shaughnessy Public School Yard Sale! This year, the sale is planned for Saturday, May 29 from 9 AM through until 2 PM. The rain day will be Sunday, May 30.

We need your help to make this another successful year by providing donations to the Yard Sale in one of two ways:

1) You sell your stuff and donate a percentage of your proceeds to the School – As we did last year, if you have many items and/or bigger ticket items (>$20 per item), we invite you to sell your own items at the school. You benefit from our advertising and organizing - thereby facilitating your sales, and in exchange we ask for a portion (at your discretion) of your proceeds to benefit the school. You will be responsible for monitoring your items, pricing them, and negotiating with buyers.

2) We sell your stuff and the school benefits from the proceeds – If you wish to donate items for sale, we will gladly receive them and sell them for you, with all proceeds going to the school.

All merchandise must be dropped off at the school on Saturday, May 29 between 7:00 am and 8:45 am. We can arrange pick-up, but this will be reserved for specific situations (e.g., someone has difficulty bringing items to the sale). All items brought to the sale must be in very good to excellent condition. The Yard Sale volunteers reserve the right to refuse any items if they do not meet these conditions. Unsold merchandise will be donated to charity after the sale. The other ingredient that made the sale such a success last year was a fantastic group of dedicated volunteers that helped things run smoothly and made the sale a lot of fun.

If you are interested in volunteering for the sale, and/or you want to sign up to donate items, please contact Gerri Mirkin at 416-461-9864 or email gerrimirkin@avedon.org.

We need to finalize the list of donors and approximate volume of merchandise by Friday, May 22. If you are not the bargain hunting type, please also note that we will have food and refreshments available at the sale, so come out and spend some quality time with your neighbours even if you aren’t in a shopping mood.

We look forward to seeing you!

Gerri Mirkin
