Seniors Be Aware

Seniors beware; there are financial predators out there!!
The Halton Regional Police Service is investigating a fraud where an elderly woman was tricked into turning over money in Oakville.
On March 1st, shortly before 11:00 am a 79 year old Oakville woman was at the Price Chopper Grocery store at Third Line and Dundas Street, in Oakville.
As the elderly woman exited her vehicle she was approached by a female who was crying and acting very upset. The suspect told the victim that she had won a large amount of money in the lottery but could not collect it because she was not a legal resident in Canada.
The suspect was soon joined by her male accomplice who tog ether tricked the woman into taking a large amount of money from her personal bank account. The suspect was lead to believe that the money would be paid back with extra money being added for compensation for her help. Once the money was exchanged the suspects left the area.
The victim was not injured during the encounter.

The suspects are described as:
Female, Latin American, 30 to 40 years, 5’3” with dark hair. She wore a French Style hat with her hair pulled back.
Male, Middle East or West Asian, 5’7”, 30 to 40 years and was clean shaven.

Unfortunately, fraudsters know who to target. Remember if it sounds too good to be true it no doubt is.
